This class is targeted at children from
7yrs and up. The class focuses on
teaching the basics of shotokan karate
and preparing students for their
gradings. Fiona Brown, the class
instructor has been training with Tei
Karate for over 12yrs, having started as
a 7yr old herself! Having realised her
ambition of achieving Shodan (black
belt) with the Association in November
2004 Fiona has demonstrated that she
possesses all the technique, strength
and determination required to become a
black belt with the Tei Association.
Fiona is now an accomplished instructor
and has a gentle, encouraging yet
authoritative style to her teaching.
This class is particularly popular with
the 7-11yr (Primary) age group although
in more recent times, we have seen more
High school students training in class.
Fiona is currently assisted by the
brothers and sister combination of Ross,
David and Alison Lowe. currently 2nd kyu
(Brown belt) they provide an invaluable
support to Fiona in developing the
skills of the lower grade students.
Numbers at the class currently sit at
around 20 students.
Beginners are always welcomed and
assured of instruction targeted
at their level of competence.
There is no adult class on a Thursday.
